“Finally .... We set love free! One of the finest decisions taken to decriminalise love and it’s myriads emotions and forms. Now if we can move towards acceptance of it as a natural order and let it co-exist and flourish in our society, it would be the next giant step and a goal we ought to aim for, he said, adding, “Let’s all go out there and spread love, acceptance, affection with dignity amongst all without exceptions.”

The decision was taken by the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justices Rohinton Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud, and Indu Malhotra. For those who are not aware, Section 377 prohibits “carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal.”

The law earlier affected the rights of lesbians, transgenders, gays and bisexuals, who took a sigh of relief after the apex court’s verdict.
