Many musicians and singers in the
Hindi
film music industry believe that there is a long way to go before one could say that there exists
equal
and fair opportunity for all in
Bollywood
.
But when it comes to celebrating International Women’s Day, everyone is excited!
Bollywood singer
Jonita Gandhi says, “Although we should celebrate women every single day, I'm glad there's an annual reminder to celebrate and recognize the achievements and impact of women all across the world!”
The singer who is known for songs like ‘Dil Ka Telephone’ from ‘Dream Girl’, ‘Bhankas’ from ‘Baaghi 3’, ‘Allah Duhai Hai’ from ‘Race 3’, ‘Gilehriyaan’ from ‘
Dangal
’, tells us, “I personally feel that the more we talk about women empowerment, the more we can constantly remind people to be aware of the gender inequalities that exist. International Women’s Day is a day when we can remind girls that they can be whatever they want and that they should disregard any gender roles or any pressure to fit gender stereotypes.”
Jonita adds, “I hope more and more people embrace this opportunity to acknowledge how far we have come in striving for gender equality, but also how far we have yet to go. We women are capable of anything we put our mind to!”
