And even though his work mainly includes being a part of Bollywood, Ranjit feels that the independent music scene in India needs a major push to be able to stand in front of Bollywood, which has a mighty presence in India. He says, “Independent music is still in a struggling stage. But you can’t blame Bollywood for being the overpowering presence that it is. If independent music is not flourishing here it’s because there aren’t too many good artists coming up.” He adds, “In the last 10 years, how many names from the independent music scenario can we remember? There would only be a handful of names that have made it to the national level. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any such musicians. There are thousands of bands right now, but none has the quality that can pierce through audience across India.”

But you have to be patient and persistent. If you want success in a quick span of time, then music is not for you.”
