Shane Warne’s innovative way of punishing his teammates – by making them carry Pinky the doll – hasn’t gone down well with singer Ila Arun.
While Team Jaipur players feel embarrassed carrying Pinky the doll, Ila is miffed with Shane Warne and his so-called novel idea. “Maine Rajasthan Royals ke liye “Halla Bol” gaana gaya hai, lekin ab mein halla bolna chahti hoon unn par,” says Ila.

Ever since Rajasthan Royals inception, Ila Arun has been an integral part of the team. However, she is now upset with all. “The whole idea of using Pinky the doll to punish the players’ for turning up late for the practice session, team meetings or messing up on any other front is ridiculous and insensitive.”
She elaborates, “First, Pinky is symbolic of the colour Pink and of course the Pink City and yeh iss gulabi nagar ki tauheen hai,” says she.
“If you want to punish the players, then make them run up to the Nahargarh Fort, or take rounds of the stadium, but how can you punish them by giving the doll?” questions Ila, and adds, “A doll can never be a punishment. A doll is a symbol of love...woh ek pyaar ka tohfa hai. There are various other ways of punishing somebody...please don’t demean a toy.”
Ila says, “I am proud of the team, but I am surprised that how can Shane Warne do such an insensitive thing. Since cricket is religiously followed and a keen interest taken in what the players do on/off the field, it will take no time for the dolls to become a symbol of punishment. If I gift a doll to somebody, he/she will take it to be some sort of a punishment,” she explains. Are you listening, Shane?
