I don’t feel like going back: Sukhwinder Singh
Sukhwinder Singh, one of Bollywood’s cult singers, says he loves performing on stage. And no wonder, he is known for his rocking stage performances. It was indeed a treat for the Kerala audience when he gave his first live performance in Calicut the other day.
“I love performing on stage as it makes me feel one with the crowd,” says the singer, who is in awe of Kerala’s scenic beauty and its people.

“The crowd was awesome, they enjoyed my music and I enjoyed their energy. Kerala is so clean and the people so friendly that it is a refreshing change to visit this part of the country. I don’t feel like going back.”
Sukhwinder says for every stage performance, he selects only the first song. “The rest I leave it to the audience,” says the singer, who is still known as the Chaiyya Chaiyya boy. “That was my first song and it is very special to me. In fact, when I first met A R Rahman for the project, he thought I was a lyricist. However, I somehow convinced him that I can sing. When he heard me sing he was so happy with my voice that he straightaway asked me to sing the Chaiyya Chaiyya song.”
Sukhwinder, who also sang the Tamil version of the song, says he has always enjoyed South Indian music and movies, “I’m a great fan of A R Rahman and I admire actor Mohanlal. Once I met him in Dubai and was touched by his humility.”
So, will he sing in Malayalam if he gets a chance? “Sure I will. I will be more than happy to
be a part of the Malayalam film industry.”
