Shiamak Davar in association with The American Center Mumbai has brought down international faculty from The Paul Taylor Dance Company in an effort to strengthen cultural relations between India and the US. Justin Marc Kahan and Christina Lynch Markham are in Mumbai for a one- week dance workshop. Through the medium of dance, the mission is to empower bilateral bonding and create harmony through performing arts.
Shiamak has put India on the world map by directing, designing and performing at a number of global events like The Commonwealth Games (Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010), The World Economic Forum (Davos), IIFA Awards and more. He has entertained world leaders including Bill Clinton (former US President), Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and has interacted with stars like Tom Cruise, Richard Gere and Will Smith.
The dance guru says, “Dance speaks one language, and there is a global recognition for talent. For the past two decades I’ve been constantly trying to bring the best to my students from across the world. With Justin and Christina from the Paul Taylor Dance Company, this is yet another effort to strengthen cultural relations.” The Founder and Artistic Director of the world’s largest dance education movement, which reaches out to over 60,000 dance enthusiasts across India, Canada, Australia, the UAE, UK and soon in the US and Singapore, Shiamak lives the motto Have Feet. Will Dance.™ and is on a mission to spread the joy of dance globally.
Dance has healing powers and his Victory Arts Foundation (VAF) is a true example of the same, reaching out to children with special needs. In addition to VAF students, Justin and Christina also form a part of the international faculty training students from Shiamak’s One Year Program (OYP), a one of a kind professional dance course that offers intensive training to students in performing arts.
