'Exile' to 'Scared To Live': New break-up songs that will help you move on

2020 has proved to be a trying and testing one on our work and personal lives. While for some distance has made the heart grow fonder, for others it has seen some long-standing relationships crumble to dust.
This year so far may have seen its fair share of weddings, hook-ups and new romances, it has also seen several breakups. Although we do not have an Adele or Arijit Singh song just yet, we’ve seen plenty of other artists from Taylor Swift to The Weeknd, BLACKPINK, among others, release breakup songs that have been giving us all the feels.
So sit back, plug-in those earphones, turn the volume up loud and keep the tissue nearby, because these songs are sure to bring with them a flood of emotions.
Taylor Swift – Exile

Taylor Swift dropped her surprise album – ‘Folklore’ – this July, but one song that has clearly struck a chord is the heart-wrenching track ‘Exile’. The song, featuring Bon Iver, is said to be one of Taylor’s most mature songs yet. The melancholic tunes, perfectly coupled with lyrics about love, loss and hurt, make this a perfect remedy for a broken heart.
BLACKPINK – Lovesick Girls

The melancholic tunes are not up your alley, then you have to hear 'Lovesick Girls' by K-Pop stars BLACKPINK. The girls have been ruling the music charts with this breakup song from ‘The Album’. “We were born to be alone, but why we still looking for love?” the girls ask in the upbeat track that is sure to have you switching gears and mending that broken heart.
Zayn Malik – Better

Zayn Malik may be on a personal high at the moment, but his love ballad ‘Better’ came in as a stark contrast. The new single has him crooning about trying to salvage a relationship with one too many cracks. While some perceived the music video as a man getting ready for his wedding, others thought the track was about a broken-hearted man walking away from his relationship to save ‘love’.
"Why wait to hate? Can we save love?" Zayn croons in his emotion-packed verse.
Rishi and Raga - Kehendi Si

Back on home-ground, singers, Rish and Raga dropped their latest track ‘Kehendi Si’ that is all about love, heartbreak and infidelity. The track that is high on emotion and beats, is also easy on the ears and heart. If you needed a playlist to clear out your thoughts, this would have to be on it.
The Weeknd - Scared To Live

The Weeknd's album 'After Hours' has some pretty dark numbers with more than a couple references to his on-and-off romance with Bella Hadid. However, one that hits home would have to be ‘Scared to Live’. The singer not only sings of heartbreak but also encourages his lover not to be afraid, move on and find love again with someone new. “I'm the reason you forgot to love, So don't be scared to live again,” he croons in the chorus.
