The passing away of her granduncle, renowned Indian classical vocalist and Padma Vibhushan

Pandit Jasraj

brought her back from Italy in less than 48 hours, but Shweta Pandit has now decided to stay back in Mumbai. Shweta wanted to settle in Italy after she was pregnant last year but after the birth of her daughter and the outbreak of COVID-19, the Highway singer is not going back now that she is back to where she belongs.

Shweta's husband Ivano Fucci, who also works with Indian film productions will relocate to Mumbai, where she plans to continue her music journey.

Having worked in

Bollywood

for 2 decades ('Mohabbatein' completes 20 years this year), Shweta has worked with several composers and filmmakers as a singer and actor and says, "I will be fine with approaching them for work again. My work as an artist is still untapped as I know my potential as a performer is much more than what I have done so far. Right now, only few films have gone on floors due to COVID-19 and so it might take some time to get good projects. But still, work will happen for me soon and till then I will be busy raising my 6-month old baby, Izana," she confirms with ETimes.

Shweta adds that independent music is now here to stay and increase, which would drive her to experiment more in that zone as well. "In fact, I have 3-4 music videos ready for release, which I have not only composed but written as well. However, it flummoxes me when I see the paid bought views on YouTube which is so evident in the case of certain songs. And, hence I wonder how a good singer would get justice in this landscape of too-many-videos cropping up every now and then. I hope the audience will find my music online even if I don't do paid promotions. Yes and sadly so, the views are lesser in many videos of genuinely good musicians."

Shweta will not need to go back to Italy anytime soon even for getting a few things which she may have left back. "Those things can always be transported at a later date," Shweta concluded, but not before adding, "I still can't come to terms with my Dadu's demise. I know that my coming back to India during COVID-19 with my baby was a miracle as there were no flights and permissions at such a short notice. I feel he wanted me here for his final journey and his calling made everything happen for me. He was a great and powerful soul.”
