Dr .M. Balmurali Krishna receives lifetime achievement award

While Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty & Rahul Sharma- set to enthrall classical music lovers!! World renowned Carnatic vocalist – Padma Vibhushan Dr. M. Balmurali Krishna will be receiving the lifetime achievement award at the hands of Padma Bhushan Vidushi Smt. Girija Devi, during a live musical concert to be held on 6thOctober at Nehru Centre at 6.00 p.m.
This prestigious award has been instituted in the memory of Pt.Uma Dutt Sharma father and Guru of Pt. Shivkumar Sharma as a mark of respect. Pt. Uma Dutt Sharma a vocalist himself and a learned Guru needs no introduction. Indisputably, he has been responsible for bringing Kashmiri Santoor to Indian Classical Music by imparting the training to his son Pt. Shivkumar Sharma.
Ugam an organization promoted by Mr. Padam Sacheti of Jaipur Gems Charitable Trust established in October 2005, in the memory of his father Late, Shri Inder Chandji Sacheti has been giving lifetime achievement awards to Great Maestro’s of Indian Classical Music. So far the award has been bestowed on Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Jasraj, Smt. Girija Devi and Pt. Ram
Narayan.
The trust is totally dedicated to promoting Great Indian Heritage –Indian Classical Music. For the last 8 years Ugam has been giving scholarships to support young outstanding talent to learn Indian classical music from their Guru’s. It has also been responsible for giving budding talent a platform to perform in front of discerning
audiences to showcase their achievements.
