Diwali will be an intimate family affair for music composer and singer
Ankit Tiwari this year. “I am busy with my own music label and other professional commitments that’s why I won’t be home in Kanpur for the festival this year,” says Ankit, who’s also caught up with the pre-release of his new single apart from several Bollywood projects. However, Ankit says he will definitely miss the ghar-wali Diwali.
“Kanpur ki Diwali ki baat hi alag hai. Shopping ho ya Diwali sweets, these are such an integral part of the festival. I remember during Diwali in Kanpur, we used to go to the Gumti market for shopping and we used to shop so much that our lunch and dinner both would be at the market itself. The only thing this year is that I will not be working for the two days of Diwali festival. That will be spent partying and celebrating with my wife Pallavi, daughter Arya and friends in the city.”

Recently, Ankit had a bizarre encounter with a fan who entered his apartment building in Mumbai and threatened to kill himself unless he met the Teri Galliyan singer. The young man from Karnataka entered the building and threatened to slit his wrists till he met Ankit. The man shouted, screamed and caused mayhem in the building till Ankit came down to meet him. Seeing the Bandi Tot singer and composer, the man fell at his feet and started crying. Reacting to the situation, Ankit says, “It was definitely shocking but there are occasions when fans request for selfies or they even try to touch me but this time it was an altogether different experience for me. This fan of mine came all the way from Karnataka to meet me. I don’t know from where he managed to get my address and then he came to my apartment. Initially, he kept on waiting for me outside the apartment but later he started requesting my staff to make him meet me. When my staff denied his request he got offended and started threatening the staff that he will kill himself. As soon as I got to know about this I thought of calling the police for assistance but later I thought let me just meet this guy. As soon as I went downstairs he just fell at my feet. So I just helped him on his feet and just gave him a hug. It was a very emotional moment for me too. Later, he told me that he had come all the way from Karnataka to see me. He had a small bag, which had his personal belongings. After this brief meeting all was well and he went back a happy man. But overall it was a very overwhelming moment for me too.”

The video of the whole incident went viral with some also accusing Ankit of pulling off a publicity stunt with this. The Shaamat singer-composer says, “Why would I create such a drama at a place where I live with my family? Agar mujhe publicity ke liye stunt karna hota toh main Ek Villain Returns ke release ke pass yeh sab naa karta? Frankly, I need no fake stunts for gaining publicity. My work is enough to keep me in news and get publicity for me.”
