'Divine Chords' is a Mumbai-based multi-genre band that plays a varied range of music from catchy beats to devotional songs. Comprising Amey Dabli (vocals and composer),

Jayesh

Dhargalkar (percussion and rhythm) and Sreeganesh Karth (guitar, vocals), the band was initiated when they first met eight years ago and realised their common love for music. Thereafter,

Sundeep Shah

(keys, guitar and vocals) and Vipul Samani (accordion, piano, harmonica and keys) joined in. Occasionally, they are joined by guest performers.
Brand of music: The band plays soulful sufi songs, along with devotional tracks and chants. Along with providing a pleasurable hearing experience, they hope to make their audience feel at peace. Amey says, We enjoy playing all genres and firmly believe that any form of music that gives joy to a crowd is good music. We usually play a lot of spiritual music (sufi, kirtans, chants as well as ghazals) in addition to Bollywood/Western music (country, retro and hip-hop).

Jayesh adds, In todays world where there is a lot of conflict, continuous stress and turmoil, there is a need for us to pause and reflect. We feel there is a definite need for people to connect with each other despite their social, cultural and economic status and simply celebrate the goodness in each other.
And thats the reason they started organising regular concerts with this theme. With a blend of contemporary fusion, Western and traditional music, they showcase the works of legends like 'Kabirdas', 'Mirabai', 'Khusro' and the likes. Their concert aims to spread the message of love and unity across cultures and society.
Musical influences: The members of 'Divine Chords' loves the work of Irish boy band '

Westlife

' among international groups and follows the work of late pop icon Michael Jackson and singer Bryan Adams, too. Indian singers Lata Mangeshkar, the late Pt Bhimsen Joshi and the trio of Shankar, Ehsaan and

Loy

('SEL') have also influenced their music.

The way forward: Next in the pipeline is the release of their second album on chants and shlokas. And the plan is to take their music across the country via tours.
