Pakistani songwriter Shahvaar Ali Khan finally gets an entry in Bollywood and has been approached to do the background score for his close Indian friend - film producer Rohit Dhawan's upcoming movie 'Desi Boyz'. Born in Lahore, a graduate of Trinity College in the US, Pakistani writer, singer-songwriter and composer, Shahvaar Ali Khan's song 'No Saazish, No Jang', has created much buzz not only in Pakistan but across the border as well. Shahvaar who was in Mumbai recently to shoot for his music album 'No Saazish , No Jang' got lucky to get a break in Bollywood. He got an offer to do the background score for his close Indian friend Film producer Rohit Dhawan upcoming movie 'Desi Boyz'. Shahvaar reveals, "Since our unconditional camaraderie, as part of a closely knit Desi gang at Trinity College, where even borders became meaningless, I think our entire Desi clan has shouldered each other across troubled waters on more than one occasion. That's why I don't consider this opportunity as a ''break' in Bollywood' per se, but just a humble small gesture to pitch in my friend Rohit's film in the form of an ode to all struggler friends across the world.
It's enough for me to be heartened by the fact that our basic Creative 'Desi' Chemistry matched and Rohit intuitively and instinctively took a call to use my song ""Filmein Shaane, Gaane Shaane"" (lyrics/Composition/Vocals) in the ""Background Score"" for his upcoming movie Desi Boyz. Moreover, the spirit of the movie is so similar to the relationship I share with Rohit. The story revolves around the story of friendship through thick and thin of two Desi friends staying abroad. I genuinely feel that Rohit's talent, insight and perseverance as a director is exemplary. NYU Film School stamp shows evidently in the trailers of the film." In addition, he adds, "I would especially like to mention the chaperoning, compassion, guidance, wisdom and encouragement of Rohit's father, David (Dhawan) Uncle, in my career graph. His intuitive feedback on my music has been instrumental in making my melodies n lyrics, not only conceptually relevant, but commercially viable."""My take on Desi Boyz is that it rests on 2-3 basic pillars. Firstly, it talks about friendship and male bonding. Secondly the Desi Pride and finally about the global economic depression. However, these are three main areas where I feel 'Desi Boyz' and my lyrics have developed a synergy. Honestly speaking, that's my endeavor in every song - whether ""No Saazish, No Jang - Peace not Pieces"" or ""Filmein Shilmein"" - the idea is to weave a harsh fact or a utopian story beyond melody n singing. As Filmein Shilmein will basically be used as a ""Background Score"" in the movie, rest the overall music is composed is done by music director Pritam for the movie," he adds."At the end, I would like to say that I am a proud Lahori in love with India and I have no qualms about saying this aloud. The people of India have given me a lot of love, even while I wear Pakistan on my sleeve. Hope all Desis of both countries around the world value and develop this kind of bonding with each other. ""Desis of the World...Unite,' he concludes.
