Bollywood biggies who popped up from music videos

The now dying music video industry was once the breeding ground for Bollywood stars and many familiar faces have emerged out of the wilderness which was reigned by names like Altaf Raja and Daler Mehendi. From Chitrangada Singh to Mallika Sherawat and John Abraham, these stars had rather humble beginnings. We dug out some such appearances for you.
Mallika Sherawat
Mallika is another actress who emerged out of the music video scene.Though it was her multiple lip locks in het debut film Khwahish which garnered her eyeballs, her showbiz break was the video of the Hans Raj Hans' popular Punjabi number Dil Chori Sada Ho Gaya which too released in the mid 90’s.
John Abraham
The actor started out as a model but his acting debut was as a young spy who falls in love with and rescues the villain's moll in Punjabi artist Jazzy B’s music video for the song Surma. Remember the parted greasy hair of his past, you can have a dekho in the video.
Chitrangda Singh
The dusky actress was quite young and not so dusky when she appeared in the music video for Altaf Raja's superhit number, Tum Toh Thehre Pardesi, 20 years ago. She has moved onto greener pastures since even though Altaf did not.
Vidya Balan
After a stint in a comedy series and a failed attempt to debut in Bengali and Malayalam films, Vidya returned as a coy bride to be in the Euphoria music video 'Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali' more than a decade ago. And then came Parineeta.
Shahid Kapoor
In the 1998 Aryans video Aankhon Main Tera Hi Chehra, a young Shahid is seen trying to woo Hrishita Bhatt. This was the actor as a lanky youngster before the six pack abs.
