Members of metal pioneers Black Sabbath call for a special press conference on November 11, hints at a possible new album
Members of the classic British heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath have called for a press conference at the spot where they made their American debut the Whiskey a Go-Go in Los Angeles on November 11. Former frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who left the band in 1979, had had earlier made passing comments on a possible reunion, but the speculations were put to rest when former Black Sabbath members including Osbourne's replacement Ronnie James Dio went on to form Heaven & Hell.
Following Dio's death due to cancer in 2010, speculations began to crop up yet again on a possible Black Sabbath reunion, especially after Osbourne told a popular international music magazine thata reunion was possible and on being asked whether a new album would be on the cards, he responded that there was "a very, very strong possibility. It's in the very early stages, so we haven't recorded anything yet." Black Sabbath, which was formed in 1968, is regarded as the godfathers of heavy metal as we know it. The band is famous, especially its lead guitarist Tony Iommi, for employing the previously taboo Tritone chord in their music, thus lending it a dark feel. The band has undergone multiple line-up changes over the years, with Tony Iommi being the only constant.
