for Akshay Kumar’s Kersari, a year ago, little did he know that he would revisit the song this year for a purpose. The composer-lyricist, known for his soulful hits like

Tere Sang Yaara

, Nazm Nazm, O Saathi among others, had an opportunity to bring out another version of the hit, Teri Mitti from Kesari, a fortnight ago, as an ode to the relentless efforts of the medical fraternity. The video of the song salutes medical professionals from across the world for risking their lives to save people in the ongoing battle with COVID-19.

Few would know that Arko was a medical student before becoming a composer and songwriter. The song, in its revamped version, understandably, is closer to his heart. Talking about it, he said, “I studied medicine at Burdwan Medical College and interned at Calcutta Medical College before switching to music as my career. Since I have worked in a hospital, I am aware of the kind of difficulties medical practitioners face at all times. Even now, I see a lot of my friends working really hard to help people. They deserve to be treated well, they deserve to be saluted.”

At a time when staying home is a necessity, Arko has been utilising his time to work on two new projects. He has been writing songs and creating compositions with other musicians for future projects. “At the moment, I am working on a bunch of singles. I am also working on two Hindi films - Bhuj: The Pride of India, starring Ajay Devgn and Satyameva Jayate 2 with John Abraham. My days are thankfully packed,” he ends.
