British-Indian sitar player and composer, Anoushka Shankar, is in Kochi to perform at a music concert at a private event hosted by a noted firm in Kerala. “Around 300 guests are expected to attend this sit-down dinner that has been organised at a seven star hotel in the city. The guest list includes the who’s who of the city’s art and literary circuit,” informs a spokesperson.
Anoushka, daughter of Indian sitar player
Ravi Shankar and half-sister to American singer-songwriter
Norah Jones, is scheduled to spend her weekend within the state.
Anouskha is currently touring India to promote her latest album Traveller, which saw a world-wide release late last year. The album features 11 songs -
Inside Me, Buleria Con Ricardo, Si No Puedo Verla, Dancing In Madness, Boy Meets Girl, Traveller, Kanya, ISHQ, Casi Uno and
Bhairavi.
The musician has already visited cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.
On her visit to Jaipur during the recently held literary festival, Anoushka’s little son grabbed many an eyeball, especially since he seemed all ready to turn musician himself.
Anoushka and her band will now be heading to Guwahati and Kolkata in February. This will complete her all India tour.
