I consider myself a living room musician: Ankur Tewari

With a 90s pop songs feel to their compositions and easy to grasp lyrics, you can hear them on loop as you hum along. Talking about the band, Ankur says, Well turn 10 next year. All of us wanted to have a fun jam with people who get each others sense of humour. Gradually, it snowballed into a band. Deriving its rather interesting name from the Hindi term galatfehmi, meaning misunderstanding, Ankur attributes it to all their diverse backgrounds and dysfunctionality. Theres not much significance to it besides having a certain ring to it, he adds.

On their a-ha moment:
Opening for Norah Jones in the year 2013 at A Summers Day Festival has been a major highlight in the bands life. Adding in some more a-ha to this was sharing the stage with the Jamaican reggae band, The Wailers, who performed in India (Shillong) for the first time, last year.

On their brand of music:
The bands mantra is to compose easy, three to four chord songs, which are easy to strum and sing. They believe that if one listens to their songs a few times, it will evoke a different feeling and strike them differently each time.

On their musical influences:
For their songs, they pick up influences from the way life is in the times of the internet age, and information flow is too quick, too handy. Besides, writings of prolific authors like

Charles Bukowski

, Leonard Cohen, Sahir Ludhianvi and Saadat Hasan Manto, too inspire their works.

On their way ahead:
Currently working on new singles and a few videos, they are also working on a new double album, called Side A/ Side B, which will mostly release post monsoon. Adds Ankur, We want to have fun, let things move the way they are supposed to. To live and let die!
