Akon was back on Indian shores, this time to perform at the Cherry Blossom Music Festival in Shillong. Before he could rock the stage with his dance numbers, the singer hinted that he is ready to make his Bollywood comeback.
The singer mentioned that after taking a break from music for the past few years, he has been closely following India’s music scene and feels a strong connection to Bollywood. He hinted at several upcoming Bollywood projects for 2025 and shared that he's already in talks with industry friends, with plans to announce his project soon.
Akon's connection with Bollywood is often remembered through his hit collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan on 'Ra.One' (2011), particularly the song 'Chammak Challo', which remains a global favourite. When asked about revisiting the project for a sequel, Akon expressed his excitement about the idea of working on a 'Chammak Challo 2.0' if the chance comes up he will surely grab it.
'Right Now' singer shared his love for India, mentioning how happy he is to see independent music growing and Indian artists gaining global recognition. He called India his second home, saying he tries to visit every year and loves the country’s vibrancy and spiritual energy.
His connection with India goes beyond music. Earlier this year, he made headlines when he attended the extravagant pre-wedding celebrations of Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in March, held in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
