There are a number of reasons Adnan Sami fell in love with Roya Farabi. And one of the reasons, Adnan tells us, is that Roya knew a lot of Farsi proverbs, just like his father did. "My father who has an Afghani background, had an oceanfull of proverbs for every situation and a lot of those proverbs were in Farsi," he says. Unfortunately, Adnan never really learnt the language.
"I would say these bits and pieces of Farsi proverbs and Roya would end up completing them. That was wonderful," says Adnan, who's father passed away three years back.
Says the singer, "When somebody passes away, you want to grab onto everything they taught you. You want to hold onto them.
So when Roya would relate to the proverbs my father had taught me, I found somebody who apart from a beautiful human being, was connected with me in terms of background, language, culture and tradition and that's extremely valuable for me."
Adnan believes that the common factors in their past histories, is something that doesn't happen very often, specially for people growing up in separate countries. "She had nothing to do with entertainment business. Yet, we found each other and that's fabulous," he says.
