The Times of India Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival is back and this time around, the artists taking part in the fest are as varied as the musical notes. Acclaimed violinist L Subramaniam, who has been treating music enthusiasts with a symphony of world music through this music fest, is all set to churn out a fusion of Indian classical music along with western tunes this time.

“It’s going to be an amalgamation of different musical cultures. The concert will be based on the theme India and beyond. The tunes will be based on Indian classical music and western classical music along with crossover pieces including jazz and pop,” explains L Subramaniam.
The fest that was started as a tribute to his father, the renowned violinist V Lakshminarayana, is now going to be all the more special. “After performing jugalbandis with violin orchestra, German orchestra and Indian classical musicians, artists from the US and Norway will be featured this year. This will give a global format to the fest.”
The musician adds, “The festival will also feature the famous keyboard player from the US, Chris Rhyne, with whom I’ve performed a number of times. We will be playing compositions of pianist and keyboardist Herbie Hancock and keyboard pioneer George Duke. Froy Agre, an acclaimed Norwegian saxophonist, also has some special pieces in store from that part of the world.”
