Movie:Zachariyayude Garbhinikal
Music Director: Vishnu, Sarath
Rating: 3
'Zachariyayude Garbhinikal' has a new composer duo, Vishnu and Sharath, son and nephew of musician Mohan Sithara. The film has four songs in all, 'Veyil Chilla', 'Oh Penne' and two versions of the lullaby 'Melle Thanji Konji'. Melle Thanji Konji seems to reinstate the fact that one can never tire of K S Chitra; the singer’s voice would sound as fresh as ever.
Oh Penne, sung by Alaap Raju and Manikandan is a pleasant love song with an upbeat tempo.
The sufi bits in the middle require special mention, and blends seamlessly into the song. There is nothing unusual about the melody but if you are a fan of the soft romantic genre in Malayalam, this is a must listen. The track that takes the cake, however, is
Veyil Chilla, a sad but intense song. The rock backing gives it an entirely different feel altogether and Jyotsna’s powerful vocals are impressive.
Vishnu himself has lent his voice to the song, which is in essence a boy band track. The songs in the film are sure worth a listen, and the young composers show promise, but at times
Oh Penne and
Veyil Chilla remind you of the current Bollywood title songs, with their choruses and electric guitar riffs.
