With Vaagai Sooda Vaa, he proved that he had all the qualities to become an important composer in Kollywood. And with Vathikuchi, Ghibran just re-emphasises that fact. Tune in to Kuru Kuru… by Sundar Narayana Rao, the first song of the album, and you’ll be instantly hooked. Even as the pleasant background arrangement kicks in, the catchy tune takes over.

Some spirited singing and cute improvisations just add flavour to the number which is sure to rock the music charts in the coming weeks. The lyrics of Amma Wake Me Up…, by Shruthi, Anitha and Shabir, bring a smile to your face and it’s essentially a song that can be enjoyed only with visual accompaniments. Despite that, the chorus and whistles are well done.
Kanna Kanna… is a decent tune delivered neatly by Sundar Narayana Rao which is uplifting at some places and not-so-great at other places. With Ari Unnai…, Ghibran takes the energetic route and tries to come up with a fast song and doesn’t impress completely. Perhaps the scenes at that juncture in the film will add to it. The Theme Of Vathikuchi… by Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra is an intriguing, wonderful musical effort that builds up a beautiful crescendo that leaves you saying ‘Wow’. Vathikuchi proves that Ghibran is here to stay as a composer and it’s up to filmmakers to use him in the right way.
