Album: Veere Di Wedding
Genre: BollywoodShashanka Ghosh’s 'Veere Di Wedding' is an album of eight songs, four of which are composed by
Shashwat Sachdev, two by Vishal Mishra and one each by Qaran and White Noise. If you thought that Punjabi is just one single genre, you need to listen to this album that treats each song differently, despite the same basic beats and rhythms.
The first track, 'Pappi Le Loon', is a complete Sunidhi Chauhan song and she has done a commendable job. Shashwat’s music with its pronounced dhol and drum beats will make you break into a dance. The extra pace of the tempo, does not affect Sunidhi’s rendition of this EDM track.
'
Bhangra Ta Sajda
(No One Gives A Damn!)' is a typical, fun Punjabi track that will tempt you to flaunt some desi bhangra moves. Rendered in an energetic, fun manner by Neha Kakkar, Romy, Surya Raghunathan and Shashwat, this track will stay with you.
Divya Kumar and Jasleen Royal give a very Punjabi dance track feel to 'Laaj Sharam' with its experimental electronic music and rapper Enbee adds to it seamlessly. Composed by White Noise, this is a track that will elicit a head-bob for sure. Vishal Mishra’s 'Veere' has a rather large group of singers crooning it, including himself, Aditi Singh Sharma, Iulia Vantur, Dhvani Bhanushali, Nikita Ahuja, Payal Dev and Sharvi Yadav. It is one of those fast, high-tempo tracks amalgamated with a soft, romantic rendition , that are meant to be grooved to. Aditi’s talent as a singer is left underutilised in this track. Interestingly, it reminds you of the song 'Bin Tere' from 'I Hate Luv Storys'.
'Bass Gira De Raja' is sung, composed and penned by Shashwat. It is a groovy, funky EDM track but nothing that you haven’t heard before. 'Aa Jao Na', a duet by Arijit Singh and Shashwat, is a slow, love song. The piano interludes are melodious and lyricist Raj Shekhar, who has worked on 'Tanu Weds Manu' and 'Qarib Qarib Singlle' has once more used simple words that strike a chord.
Composer-singer Vishal’s 'Dagmag Dagmag' is a funky track with an almost staccato tempo. Accompanying vocals are by Payal Dev, while award-winning lyricist and scriptwriter Anvita Dutt has penned this track.
Rapper-composer
Badshah’s singing debut '
Tareefan
' is already topping charts. The last track in the album, this cool club song has the stunning Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania grooving to it.
