Music Review: Pehlwaan

'Pehlwaan', directed by Krishna, starring Kichcha Sudeepa, Suniel Shetty, Aakanksha Singh, Sushant Singh, Kabir Duhan Singh, Sharath Lohitashva and others, will be released in five languages.

The album of nine tracks is not one that you can ignore — the music is by Arjun Janya and the songs are penned by Astha Jagiasi. When a composer is able to master the best of both melody and rhythm, effortlessly, his work easily wins over most true music lovers. And that is the case with the Sandalwood music director — all tracks of the film are hankering for your attention and command a repeat.

Singers Dev Negi, Vyasa Raj nail the title track 'Dekho Aaya Pehlwaan' — theme song. The next, 'Dil Jaaniye', by Sanjith Hegde, with its addictive tempo will get you hooked and make you reach for a replay. This one is all attitude and packed with contemporary arrangements that are seamlessly flowing alongside traditional percussion instruments. The composition has a heady mix of classical beats and a haunting aura. 'Jai Ho Pehlwaan', sung by Swaroop Khan, Vyasa Raj and Mc Vicky is a powerful song that fuses contemporary with traditional beautifully.

'Lakshya Ko' is like a chant and reminds you of Uri’s songs. This one has been sung by Vijay Prakash,

Siddharth Basrur

and Jasraj Joshi.

The next, 'Challa Yaar', sung by Vijay Prakash, is a pleasant romantic track with folk beats. Singer Armaan Malik’s 'Sayyare' is a soft, mellow and heart-touching composition and the singer delivers it perfectly, with all the little nuances in music.

'Teri Meri', sung by Hriday Gattani, Aditi Paul and Rahul Nambiar, is a youthful, fun and peppy composition — a marked departure from the other tracks, in the album.

The last two instrumental tracks 'Mangalyam Theme' and 'Stunt Theme', showcase the composer’s extensive range.
