The soundtrack is, predictably, an album that has been worth waiting for —what with Gulzar’s lyrics and Vishal’s composition. Rustic, earthy and folk, the tracks, apt for the movie’s setting, will charm you all the way.

Rekha Bhardwaj and Sunidhi Chauhan completely own 'Balma', the first track. The soundscape is unpretentious and simple, with dholak taking the primary role.

Vishal rocks the next track, 'Pataakha' like a pro. This number gets an interesting sound with the deft use of the acoustic guitar, violin,

accordion

,

clarinet

, trumpet, and other classical instruments.

'Hello Hello', an item song picturised on Malaika Arora, has been rendered expertly by Rekha Bhardwaj. Gulzar’s lyrics will make this one easily relatable to the digital generation of today.

The next, 'Naina Banjare' is all set to be counted among Arijit Singh’s best-songs list. Apart from the magic of Gulzar’s lyrics, pleasant guitar riffs and some off beats, makes this melodious romantic track worth a
second hear.

Sukhwinder Singh owns the next, 'Gali Gali'. A folk track, it is the quintessential Vishal-Gulzar song.
This bouquet of some great music and fabulous lyrics is definitely worth a hear.
