Music review: Nawabzaade

'Nawabzaade', a romantic comedy starring Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathak and Dharmesh Yelande in leading roles, has Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Badshah and Athiya Shetty making appearances in the film’s songs.

The album begins with Guru Randhawa’s 'High Rated Gabru'. This one has been on the playlists of most party-song lovers for the last one year. Now that it has been incorporated in this film and features a fab dancer like Varun grooving to it, it is sure to climb charts again this year. The track is the same as Guru’s original, but with added beats and programming. It has already debuted the Mirchi Top 20 charts at No. 8, this week.

The female version of this track has been sung by Aditi Singh Sharma, who pours in oodles of ommph to this number with her honeyed voice. What works is Aditi’s vocal prowess and the nuances in notes, that she can manoeuvre with ease.

Alcohol, drugs and some double-entendre is what comprises the hip-hop track 'Tere Naal Nachna'. With vocals by Sunanda Sharma, this Badshah composition has some traces of his earlier hit 'Tareefan'.

'Mummy Kasam' is replete with ample sprinkling of misogynist lyrics and is sure to gain popularity with a certain segment of music lovers.

'Amma Dekh' is a fast-paced EDM track that takes its inspiration from the Bali Brahmbhatt number, 'Amma Dekh' ('Stuntman', 1994). This one sung by Gurinder Seagal, Sukriti Kakar has reworked lyrics by Kumaar and some catchy rap by Ikka that is relevant to the current generation.

'Lagi Hawa Dil Ko' is the last track in the album. This one is a slow romantic number penned by Sandeep Nath and has been sung by Altamash Faridi and has a fast-paced beat-heavy antara by Mika Singh. Gurinder and Nettle’s supporting vocals are noteworthy. Sardar G’s melodious music combined with some great vocals is worth listening to.
