In a bid to grab popularity with a dumbed-down music audience, the makers take the shortcut of picking up 90s hits and Punjabi songs to create an ‘instant’ tracklist that they feel will resonate with the listeners quicker.
1x1 polls
With not a single original song in the entire five-track album, 'Luka Chuppi', makes a special place for itself in the music industry as a ‘curated’ album.
'Coca Cola Tu', written, composed and sung by Tony Kakkar, with rap by Young Desi, was released as a single last year. The recreated version has an increased tempo and Tony’s sister, Neha Kakkar’s vocals along with irreverent and rather pedestrian lyrics. The track, just like the makers estimated, is gaining popularity real quick, and has been on the Mirchi Top 20 Charts since the last two weeks.
The next, 'Poster Lagwa Do', was inspired by Guddu Dhanoa’s 1997 romance-action flick 'Aflatoon’s hit original, 'Ye Khabar Chapwado Akhbar Mein'. The song, that was composed by Dilip Sen, Sameer Sen, penned by Anand Bakshi and sung by Lalit Sen and Shweta Shetty, has been given a contemporary feel. Mika Singh and Sunanda Sharma add the necessary chutzpah to this foot-tapping number that debuts the charts this week.

'Tu Laung Main Elaachi' is a remake of the Punjabi hit 'Laung Laachi', that released early last year. While the original was sung by Mannat Noor, the Tanishk Bagchi version features Tulsi Kumar’s vocals.
The next, 'Photo', has an arrangement similar to 'Coca Cola'. The original, by Karan Sehmbi, is a 2016 Punjabi hit and Goldboy’s composition sounds better than the recreated track. Nirmaan has rewritten the Punjabi lyrics in Hinglish for the film.
The last track, 'Duniya' (unreleased at the time of going to press), is a remake of the 2016 romantic Punjabi track, 'Khaab', by Akhil.
This album shows that originality is surely not a prerequisite to make it to the playlist of junta’s popular hits.
