Music review: Batla House
Directed by Nikkhil Advani, 'Batla House' is an action-thriller featuring John Abraham as a cop. It’s inspired by Operation Batla House, which took place in 2008. A multi-composer album, the soundtrack features four tracks. But only two were out till the time of going to press.
Written and composed by Tanishk Bagchi, 'O Saki Saki' is a recreated version of the hit number, Saaki Saaki, from the 2004 film, Musafir, which was composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Apart from a couple of lines, the entire track has been rewritten.
The vibe of the song remains the same, which is commendable on composer Tanishk’s part. Singer Neha Kakar, Punjab’s latest offering to Bollywood, singer B Praak, and Tulsi Kumar, give a strong vocal performance. However, someone who is used to powerhouse duo Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan’s rendition of the original Saaki is bound to miss the magic in the new version.
The second number, 'Rula Diya', takes the listener on an emotional ride. The touching song has been written by Prince Dubey and sung by Ankit Tiwari (he has also composed it) and Dhvani Bhanushali.
The lyrics help you figure out that the protagonist is torn between his personal and work life. The highlight of the song is the acoustic sound arrangements. It features instruments like the shehnai, dholak, dhol and flute.
