The music album of 'Jayammana Maga' is the perfect example of mismatched talent. While music director Arjun Janya’s work shines when he composes for contemporary story lines, this story — presumably set against a village backdrop wherein the focus is on the relationship between a mother and her son — just does not work in his favour.
The film has only three and a half songs to brag about — two of which, Ba Bare Cheluveand Bell Bottom, end up being fun tapori tracks that are the only representation of romance in the entire album. The song Nalli Katte is the winner among them, with adequate help by lyricist Yogaraj Bhat. The song has the protagonist giving you an idea about his mother and her antics.
The half-plus song, Shakti Kodu, is dedicated to invoke the blessings and the divine intervention of the village goddess, in good ol’ filmi style. Really, isn’t it about time we grew out of that phase?
