Times of India Music Review
Movie: Barfi
Music:Arjun JanyaCritic's Rating: ***1/2
It’s romance all the way on this album, what with every single number celebrating love in all its glory. It is music director Arjun Janya’s practice to sing at least one number on all of his albums and this one has him singing Yeno Onthara.
Vijay Prakash pitches in with
Onde Samane, while
Kailash Kher’s
Kaage Kannu sticks to the theme of the album even as the lyrics take a humourous tone.
Baaro Baaro sung by Anuradha Bhat might work for the film, but does not do much for the album.
Sonu Nigam’s solo number
Oh Mahiyave is a winner, the fact that it begins with a phrase in Hindi has little do to with that. The singer has been roped in for two other romantic numbers, one duet with Shreya Ghoshal, Kannali Kannidu, and another solo number called
Yaare Yaare, both of which leave you wanting to listen to the enjoyable melody.
A special mention must go out to the lyricists — Jayanth Kakini, Ghouse Peer, Kaviraj, Raghavendra Kamath, Hrudaya Shiva and S Bahubai — each of whose work depicts the emotion of love in a unique way.
If you’re in love or believe in love,
Barfi ought to make it to the top of your playlist.
