Album Review: Bareilly Ki Barfi
Album: Bareilly Ki Barfi
Genre: Bollywood
'Bareilly Ki Barfi', a light-hearted, romantic comedy produced by Junglee Pictures and BR Studios, helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and written by Nitesh Tiwari (director of the blockbuster Dangal), stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles.
The album has a distinct mitti ki khushbu that you can identify with instantly, and that’s one of the reasons the songs have become such a rage.
1x1 polls

The first, 'Sweety Tera Drama', is a peppy number with an out-and-out desi vibe. It features the lead trio doing latkas, jhatkas and thumkas — mandatory moves at most Indian weddings.
With a soundscape that is youthful, upbeat and massy, it’s a no-brainer that the song debuted the Mirchi Top 20 Charts at No. 6, this week. Composed by Tanishk Bagchi, the track, with its foot-tapping beats and catchy tune, does not take long to elicit that unconscious head bob.

Sung by Dev Negi, Pawni Pandey and Shraddha Pandit, the song is interspersed with words mujik and bawra that add a quirky edge to it. Shabbir Ahmed’s lyrics Haan tere hain deewane, Tu maane ya na maane, Arey sun le gujariya balam hoyi gaya, narrates the drama of a classic love triangle.
The second number, 'Nazm Nazm' by the multifaceted musician Arko Pravo Mukherjee, will have you hit replay as the melody lingers on your mind. It celebrates old-school love and snail mail in a warm, endearing way. Arko had written the mukhdas earlier, but when this innocent Bareilly romance was given to him as a backdrop, he penned down the rest of the song.
The poetic, tender, love song exudes old-world charm. Woven around two lovers exchanging letters, it brings out the simplicity of a small-town romance.
The next, 'Twist Kamariya' by Tanishk and Vayu, is rendered by Harshdeep Kaur, Yaseer Desai, Tanishk and Altamash Faridi. Kirti and her kamariya steal the show here as Ayushmann rules the dance floor in his own way.
A fun, party number, 'Twist Kamariya' has an unmistakable youthful vibe that makes you want to break into a jig.
A fine mix of melody, dance numbers and hummable tunes, this is one album that you cannot ignore.
