Album: A Flying Jatt, Label: Zee musicRating: 3.5/5Bollywood: One could argue that there is slim scope for music in a superhero film. But then in Bollywood, the Krrish series did benefit immensely from Rajesh Roshans melodies. Keeping up with the tradition, the makers of 'A Flying Jatt' roped in composer duo Sachin-Jigar for the music. Staying true to the title, the Gujju boys have done a great job at dishing out groovy Punjabi music.
The title track sung by Mansheel Gujral, Tanishkaa and Raftaar is an instant hit. High on energy and rustic swag, this one will get you grooving. 'Beat Pe Booty' follows the same vein and is a great mix of bhangra, electronic and hip hop. Kanika Kapoor, Vayu get behind the mic with the composers themselves and render it effectively. There is not a dull second in the track that could've easily gone loopy. But this is a track well handled. Bringing back memories of 'Badlapurs 'Jeena Jeena', there is another noteworthy romantic ballad called 'Toota Jo Kabhi Tara'. Sung by
Atif Aslam and Sumedha Karmahe, the two complement each other well - his earthy voice washed down by her sweet, calm one. We also get treated to a solo Atif track in 'Khair Mangda'. His voice is a natural fit to the Sufi beats and in terms of melody, the track is flawless. It is probably the albums most earnest, effortless number. After the romantic respite, the soundtrack quickly falls back to the dhol-baaja space. Bhangda Pa sung by Vishal Dadlani and Divya Kumar, along with Asees Kaur is a smasher. Divya matches Vishals gruffy voice with his finesse and they are both in top form. Daler Mehendi and Navraj Hans joshila singing makes 'Raj Karega Khalsa' a bold number. 'A Flying Jatt' is a balanced album. Those who thought Sachin-Jigar cannot outdo themselves after 'Badlapur', this one is a job done well.
