Zeeshan Ali, a singer from the Rampur Saheswan gharana made his debut at the prestigious Megh Malhar festival organized by the Nehru Centre will perform on Sunday morning at the Music Lovers’ Club,Bandra W.Young Zeeshan is a son and pupil of Maqbool Hussain, a senior exponent of the Rampur Saheswan gharana. Zeeshan’s ‘Megh’ at that festival was impressive.
He has cultivated an admirable flexibility of the voice through constant and regular practice.
His grandfather Ishtiyak Hussain Khan was a son and pupil of the maestro Mushtaq Hussain Khan.
“Ishtiyak Hussain Khan was one of the severest disciplinarians. He literally forced my father to sing the same patterns,phrases and compositions hundreds of times in front of him.” Zeeshan is benefiting from that strict regimen. At a young age he is performing with practised ease.
