One year was worth the wait. And music lovers of the city couldn’t agree more as they headed to The Basement, Hotel Samilton, on Thursday evening.
Gaurab aka Gabu, son of Gautam Chattopadhyay, the inspirational leader of Mohiner Ghoraguli, paid a fitting tribute to the band by covering songs of both 70s and 90s through the second edition of the concert.
The first was held on August 11, last year.

“Apart from my father’s songs and those by Mohiner Ghoraguli, we covered songs by Subrata Ghosh and Joyjit Lahiri (Gorer Math), Arunendu Das and Dibyo Mukhopadhyay. My uncle, Pradip Chattopadhyay joined us for quite a few numbers,” said Gabu, who ushered in his birthday with the concert. As Gabu, Sanket, Sayak and Ritoban enthralled the crowd with “Kape kape”, “Telephone”, “Prithibi”, “Haye bhalobashi”, “Akashe chhorano” and “Sararat”, among many others, the euphoria surrounding Mohiner Ghoraguli that seems to grow by the day, was palpable. In Gabu’s words, “Even those I wasn’t expecting, turned up for the show.” And why not? It was worth every minute.
