Theatre connoisseurs are in for a treat as drama, music, dance and art converge on Kennedy Bridge
Ashvin Gidwani Productions’ Kennedy Bridge, a rivetting two-hour emotional drama, is a theatrical treat with elements from theatre, Bollywood and art seamlessly integrated in writer and director Khalid Mohamed’s script.
It promises to be one of the biggest and most visually-engaging extravaganzas in Indian theatre.

An enthusiastic Ashvin Gidwani says as he takes centre stage with this new offering, “We’ve received tremendous response and huge curiosity for this production. The sheer technological brilliance and outstanding creative content catapults Kennedy Bridge into a league of its own.”
And it is true. While Kennedy Bridge marks the English theatre debut of Bollywood’s multi-talented music director/singer Himesh Reshammiya with a mujra track, the play’s extravagant sets have been designed by the iconoclastic artist Chintan Upadhyay. Poet Nida Fazli’s work has been integrated into the production. James Ferreira has designed the elaborate costumes. Video elements for Kennedy Bridge have been photographed by ace lensman and director of photography Sanjay F Gupta, composed by Jayesh Gandhi and Kaizad Gherda and the dances choreographed by Javed Sanadi.
The talented cast includes Manav Gohil, Richa Chaddha, Achint Kaur, Asif Ali Beg, Yuri, Hemwant Tiwari, Yamini Kshirsagar, Yash and Hritik Belani. Of Kennedy Bridge, Khalid Mohamed says, "This was a taboo neighbourhood in Mumbai during the 1950s-60s. Spanning over three generations and five decades from the 1950s to 1990s, the play is an artistic endeavour to bring to life the different emotions and reality of life of a courtesan. To rekindle those days, it was essential to round up a cast who understood the ethos of that era and empathised with the characters they played and we have been successful in doing that.”
The curtain goes up Kennedy Bridge on August 14 and 15 at Tata Theatre, NCPA at 6:30 pm. Tickets available at the venue booking office and www.bookmyshow.com For home delivery call 3989 5050. Ticket rates: Rs 2,000, 1,500, 1,000, 750 and 500.
