It seemed like a showdown of the titans when two musical behemoths — Shankar Mahadevan and Hariharan decided to rain down their melodious shower on Chennaiites on Sunday night at the Times Chennai Festival 2011. The duo, who sang to a jampacked crowd at the St George’s School grounds, were at their energetic best, belting out some of their most-loved numbers. Shankar declared the revels open with an invocation and prayer for a corruption-free India.
He followed it up with Thaniye Thananthaniye from Rhythm, which got the crowds into the groove. He barely needed to prompt the crowds to raise their hands as he got them into the Rock on mode. Soon, the ‘true rockstar’ Hariharan made a flamboyant entry with songs like Arima Arima and Oh Shanthi Shanthi. The associate sponsor of the festival is Reliance Digital, the co-sponsor is Navin Housing and the co-host is Sheraton Park Hotel and Towers.
