Kunal Kapoor: As a tribute, we are showing Ustad Zakir Hussain's concerts this month

For the last 40 years, Ustad Zakir Hussain curated and performed at the annual Prithvi Theatre Memorial Concert, a tradition he upheld even during the pandemic. Recognizing the significance of these performances, Prithvi began preserving them on video over the last 23 years. Now, in a heartfelt tribute, the theatre is sharing 20 of these historic recordings over three weekends (Feb 7 to 23) with the special free series 'Guzishta Yaadein'.

Through this special archival screening of Ustad’s iconic Memorial Concerts, audiences will have the chance to relive the magic of his performances, celebrating the maestro’s deep-rooted connection with Prithvi Theatre and the timeless spirit of his music.

His unwavering commitment, keeping this date sacred for 40 years, even through COVID, means the world to us. It was only in the last 20 years that we began archiving these concerts, realizing what an invaluable legacy they represent.
