Fondly remembering Tagore

When Charulata relates to certain verses by Tagore, Amal very aptly says, “Eta to Rabi Thakurer kotha go bouthaan... porlei mone hoy nijer.”
Indeed, everyone inside the packed hall seemed to have related to the verses in Tagore’s play, “Nasto Neer”, that was performed on Thursday evening at Science city. The play, directed by Gautam Halder, saw the original Amal of Satyajit Ray’s 1964 movie “Charulata”, Soumitra Chatterjee, narrate the story of Charulata, Amal and Bhupati, played by Ritabhari Chakraborty, Subhrajit Dutta and Dulal Lahiri respectively.Seen at the do were Ustad Amjad Ali Khan with his family Amaan, Ayaan, Neema and Subhalakshmi Khan, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to Art. Also present were Roop Kumar and Sunali Rathod.
