A discussion on gharana system

The traditional art of Hindustani classical music has survived and thrived over the last few centuries through the medium of the gharana (family) system.
Over the years the term has come to mean a musical style. In an age where we are constantly exposed to different influences, musicians are absorbing various forms of music.
The relevance of gharanas today has become a topic of hot discussion and a talk organised by Shiv Sangeetanjali and Sangeet Natak Academy will do just that.
The discussion will be led by Jaipur-Attrauli gharana singer Sushilarani Patel and will include other eminent singers.
