No silent night, because the Christmas at the Museum show promises to rock the jingle out of you. TOI tell you more...It’s time to set those jingle bells rolling, because the festive season is here! The fruits are busy soaking in high spirits, cribs and festooned trees are being brought and well, what Christmas would be complete without lovely carols? If the carollers haven’t already started doing the rounds of your home, here’s a show that will instil the cheer in you.
The Christmas at the Museum concert that will take place this evening promises to hark the herald and do the rapapampam for the music loving audience in the city!
Featuring some of the best artistes in town, the concert is touted to bring to the table, a class act. The ensemble includes Sunitha Sarathy (vocal), Rahul Gopal (drums),
Keba Jeremiah (bass), Matt Littlewood (piano), Shyam Benjamin (keyboard), Vivin Kuruvilla (keyboard) and Allwyn Jeyapaul (percussion). Sunitha who is largely responsible for putting the show together says, “Since the concert is about bringing out the best of the Christmas season with loved ones, the line-up of musicians here consists of my friends. The ensemble is very versatile, because we have musicians like Matthew Littlewood and Rahul Gopal who play a lot of jazz, Keba who’s into gospel and Allwyn who plays for all bands possible!”
The show will see much-adored songs like Silent night, O come all ye faithful, Let it snow, O Holy Night and Drummer Boy, among others, being belted out, but as Sunitha pipes, “It’s all going to be different!” She elaborates, “Even though we have chosen evergreen numbers, the renditions will be very different. Each song has been rearranged — a lot of R&B and soul elements have been included and the vocals will be special too.” But most of all, for the ensemble, the concert is about celebrating the lovely month of December. Sunitha smiles, “Christmas is more about tradition than religion, and Chennai has the best weather in December; this brings out the best in people. But most of all, since this time is all about giving back to the society, the proceeds of this show will go to a social outreach home.”
So, put your Santa hats on this evening and head to this concert for what promises to be a merry sleigh ride!
