Darshan Raval: Kesariya Balam, Chaudhary are my favourite Rajasthani folk songs

Jaipur janta finally got ‘baarish’ on Thursday! Well, not literally, but singer Darshan Raval, who was in the city to talk about his new song dedicated to the monsoon, told us, “Baarish toh nahi but mai apna naya song Baarish Lete Aana jaroor le kar aa gaya hoon Jaipur ki janta ke liye.” “I was surprised when I got to know that Jaipur has got very little rainfall in the past few weeks. I desperately wait for the monsoon to arrive. There are so many personal memories connected to rain. I remember when it used to rain, my entire family used to come together and savour pakoras. Even when I came to Mumbai for the first time to participate in India’s Raw Star, it was raining. I get nostalgic when I think of rains. Every monsoon, I release one song out of my love for this season,” says Darshan.

'WHENEVER I COME TO JAIPUR, I MEET SUCH SWEET PEOPLE'The singer has been to Jaipur earlier and he finds the people of the city to be warm and loving. "I always judge a city by its people and culture. Whenever I come to this city, I meet such sweet people. Also, the city's architecture is known to the world. I was visiting a college this time which was located on the outskirts of the city. While I was on my way to that college, I got to see the beautiful old buildings of Jaipur that speak about the grandeur and royalty that this city once enjoyed. I also got to relish Rajasthani food and it was delicious," he says. Darshan is also fond of Rajasthani folk music. "Kesariya Balam and Chaudhary are my favourite folk songs," he shares.

‘I WOULD LIKE TO RESTRICT MYSELF TO JUST THE MUSIC VIDEOS, AND NOT DO FILMS’Singers are not just trying their hands on new genres of music, but are also doubling up as actors in their singles or music videos. Darshan is one of those singers. However, he says that this is just limited to music videos and he has no plans of doing any Bollywood films. “I have got offers for Bollywood films but I have politely declined them. I have played the lead in all my music videos but I would like to restrict myself to just the music videos. I don’t want to go beyond and do films,” he says. Darshan wishes to sing for Ranbir Kapoor and Akshay Kumar in the future.
