Bollywood singers join Papon for Bihu concert

Singer Angraag Mahanta aka Papon organized a special online three-day concert for the festival 'Rongali Bihu' as the Assamese New year could not be celebrated in public forums this time owing to the lockdown.
The singer was joined by popular singers from Bollywood and Assamese industry on 15th April 2020.
Singers who joined Papon for the online concert were Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Benny Dayal, Shaan, Shantanu Moitra, Richa Sharma, Shruti Goswami, Nilotpal Bora, Joi Barua, Zublee, Antara Nandy and Zubeen Garg.All of them sang various Assamese songs and interacted with the viewers.
Papon was also joined by sprinter Hima Das who is also from Assam. They had a great interaction and she also sang one of Papon's Bihu song.
The social media concert that began on Tuesday 14th April, aims at enabling people to stay positive and entertained at home during this lockdown.
Being son to a legend-Khagen Mahanta who was known as the "King of Bihu" Papon has always stayed close to his roots and tried to make a difference. This time, unfortunately, since every one across the country is fighting the COVID-19 outbreak by staying at home, Papon come up with a concept of celebrating this festival 'virtually'.
Papon says, "Rongali Bihu is the beginning of the new year.When I got in touch with a few of my singer friends they happily agreed to be a part of this. It is our collective and small effort to make people smile especially when we cant go out and celebrate. I hope this spreads positivity and hope that this too shall pass."
