Shakthi Thirumagan Movie Review: Power often changes hands in whispers, and Kittu (Vijay Antony) makes a living translating them. Arun Prabu sets up a political thriller with a different kind of lead. Kittu is not a lawyer or a hired fist. He is the person everyone calls to get things done inside the maze. That choice gives the film a fresh angle, and Vijay Antony fits it neatly. He knows his range, looks sharp, and composes a propulsive score that keeps scenes ticking.

A crime in 1989 is buried by a fixer class, a child is rescued and raised by Subbaiah (Vagai Chandrasekhar), and the pupil grows into a broker who can pull levers inside the Secretariat. When the circle closes, Kittu’s revenge is designed, not detonated. Phone calls, small trades, a little public theatre. The film is most engaging when it lets us watch how influence is moved from one desk to another.

The issues are in the telling. At 157 minutes, the cut is restless. Even simple conversations are diced into a flurry of jump cuts, and key turns arrive with showreel sheen rather than lived-in pressure. Exposition piles up. Depth and character shading take a back seat to constant motion. You can see the better scenes hiding inside a tighter version.

Sunil Kirpalani’s antagonist track carries the right menace without cartooning. You could draw parallels to many real-world figures through him, and you'd likely guess which actual figure he's mimicking most closely here. The production looks polished, and the soundtrack is a plus. What the film lacks in nuance, it makes up for in a steady commercial pulse.

Political thrillers have been thin lately. This one lands: Shakthi Thirumagan is sharp, punchy, and driven by a lead who earns your attention. Trim the excess and tame the edit, and the film's playbook would read even better.
