Story: After learning of her husband cheating on her, Ratan devises a plan to make him realise his mistake and get him back on track.

Review: Getting its name from the lead pair’s onscreen names, Ram Ratan is a typical run-on-the-mill film that treads the beaten path.

Ram (Bhutani), a rich and spoilt brat, is a compulsive womaniser and believes in living a life full of fun. Despite his friends warning him otherwise, he sticks to this habit even after getting married. Soon enough, his wife Ratan (Shah) finds out the truth behind his regular ‘business meetings’ and decides to teach him a lesson. Her plan leads Ram to believe that he has tested positive for HIV. This shatters him and he decides to end his life. However, he doesn’t commit suicide. Instead, he hires the services of a contract killer named Goli Dada (Kaushik) to get himself killed. And believe us, that’s the only novel thing about this otherwise mediocre movie. Oh wait, there’s also Bappi da in a special appearance in a song that urges you to ‘drink, smoke and have fun’.

While the story is pretty predictable, there are a few scenes that stand out. Coupled with the ‘clever’ plan and its execution, these scenes manage to catch your interest for a short span.

But the movie banks on stereotypes. Kaushik as the comic gangster, Rajpal Yadav as his sidekick, Daisy as the adarsh patni and a few other characters do nothing but add speed to the movie going off track. Bhutani looks sincere but has nothing much to do besides brooding and romancing pretty girls.

All in all, Ram Ratan is a tedious watch that neither entertains nor drives home any point.
