Ishq Tera

Story: A woman who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder fights the demons from her past as she struggles to cope with her present and embrace an unknown future with help from her loving husband.


Review: Childhood sweethearts Rahul (Mohit Madaan) and Kalpana (Hrishita Bhatt) get married, hoping that a bright future lies ahead of them. But the fact that Kalpana suffers an advanced form of a Multiple Personality Disorder is a shocker for her hubby. Kalpana’s alter ego, Laila, is too hot to handle for a monogamous relationship. Besides being the dutiful husband that he is, Rahul also has to suffer the multiple infidelities that Kalpana indulges in as the loud-mouth nymphomaniac, Laila. Rahul wants is to cure his wife, but the only problem is that there is no medical cure for her condition. As a hopeful treatment regimen, Rahul transforms into Kabir who is way cooler, and tries to woo Kalpana’s alter ego, Laila.


The story of Ishq Tera allows a lot of scope for the actors to showcase their craft, and Mohit Madaan of Aksar 2 fame makes the most of this. Unfortunately, a shoddy execution and a shaky edit get in the way of both the performance and the story. The entire segment with lusty bosses taking advantage of Laila seems to be stretched and only there for the ‘sensual factor. Hrishita Bhatt, seen on screen after long, seems a bit shaky in her performance. The only saving grace in the film is the music, which again, is overdone. While it is a film on a serious medical condition, the ailment remains there just for effect. There is no real effort on the part of the makers to get to the heart of it. Ishq Tera may get somewhere as a sappy romantic film, but it surely falls flat as a thriller.
