On Friday, veteran actress
Surekha Sikri was “overwhelmed” and became a “bit emotional” when she got to know that she has won the National Award for the best supporting actress for
Badhaai Ho. The 66
thNational Awards, for the year 2018, were announced in Delhi on August 9 and Junglee Pictures’
Badhaai Ho not only gave Sikri her third National Award, but the film also won the award for the best popular film providing wholesome entertainment.

Badhaai Ho is a special film and everyone who worked to make the film a huge success deserves to be congratulated today. I am thankful to the film’s team, especially director
Amit Sharma, for giving me a chance to be a part of such a special film,” says Sikri. She adds that for her, the best part of the film was that “it was a well-written film with characters that every family in India can relate to.

Earlier, Sikri had won two National Awards (in the supporting actress category) for
Tamas and
Mammo, and she says that the third one is as special as her first award. “I am really happy and overwhelmed that people think that I am worthy and deserving of this honour.
Badhaai Ho is a film close to my heart and I am happy that I won the award for this film,” says Sikri.
