Played Ranji match the same day his father passed away

In 2006, tragedy struck for the Kohli family with Virat’s father Prem Kohli's sudden passing. However, the sports star turned even this personal tragedy into something inspiring. The same day of his father’s demise, Virat decided to continue playing a Ranji trophy match against Karnataka showing the extreme professionalism he had since a young age. He went on to score 90 runs that were crucial for his team.

Only Indian cricketer to score a century in World Cup debut

Virat Kolhi made his debut at the World Cup against Bangladesh in 2011. At a time when most cricketers are nervous at such a monumental occasion, the young lad took the opportunity and made the best of it. He scored a century in his very first World Cup match, thus becoming the only Indian cricketer to ever achieve this feat. While Virat has been compared to many cricket greats, this feat reminds everyone of his unique talent.

Favourite food is mom’s mutton biryani

Virat has always been close to his mother Saroj Kohli. Being is a world-famous athlete; he eats very carefully to stay in top form. While he is seen hopping around various plush restaurants wherever the matches take him, he knows the value of home food. Personally, the cricketer loves his mother’s food and his particular favourites are mutton biryani and kheer. Who would’ve thought that this cricket icon is a foodie at heart?

The Indian skipper is currently rumoured to be dating Anushka Sharma and the two have been going strong over the years. But the first Bollywood actress he had a crush on, was someone else. According to reports, Virat’s first crush was B-town actress Karisma Kapoor, who was the reigning star right about the time the cricketer, was growing up.

Love for tattoos

Virat is also a person who doesn’t shy away from getting inked. In fact, he has eight tattoos on his body at present. It also includes a tattoo of a golden dragon and a samurai warrior on his hands, which is believed to bring him good luck. Being a devotee of Lord Shiva, he also has the deity’s tattoo on his arm. On his right bicep, he also inked the word ‘Scorpio’ representing his zodiac sign. Overall, he is a tattoo lover and believes that it defines who he is in a better way.
