Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar joined Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, in his cleanliness drive to promote their upcoming film 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. Akshay who had earlier met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss his film was today spotted at a school to get some sweeping done with Yogi Adityanath. The Khiladi of Bollywood even took to Twitter to share a picture with the CM which he captioned "Honored to be part of Hon. Chief Minister of U.P. @myogiadityanath cleanliness drive in Lucknow today ".
Apart from 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', Akshay has his kitty full with movies like 'Padman', 'Gold' and '2.0'.

Judgment in 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' case to be given out on August 5

A Jaipur-based filmmaker, Pratik Sharma filed a copyright infringement case against the makers of 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' accusing them of lifting the punchline and the subject from his film ‘Gutrun Gutar Gun’ on July 7 to which the makers of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ had to reply to by July 31. All arguments have now ended and the court is likely to declare its judgement on August 5. The film is slated to release on August 11, 2017.

‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is a movie that highlights the much talked about subject of the need for proper sanitisation in India. It is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat campaign that stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles.

‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’: Interesting facts about the Akshay Kumar starrer

Akshay Kumar, who has been focusing more and more on movies with social messages of some kind, is about to release another movie in a similar vein. The movie in question is none other than ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, which is a satirical take on the problem of open defecation that the country still faces. While the trailer and songs have got everyone excited, here are a few interesting facts about the film that will pique your curiosity even more.

Akshay Kumar volunteered to build toilets

Akshay Kumar is certainly an actor who believes in leading by example. Not only has he starred in a film that focuses on sanitation, he even volunteered to dig up toilets and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Back in April, Khiladi Kumar shared a photo on Twitter where he can be seen digging a toilet in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh as part of promoting his film as well as promoting sanitation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praises the trailer and film

Akshay had already discussed the concept of the film with the Prime Minister, who had heartily approved of it. But when the trailer of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ came out, Mr. Modi was one of the first to shower praises on the film. He commented, “Good effort to further the message of cleanliness. 125 crore Indians have to continue working together to create a Swachh Bharat.” It is indeed incredible for a film to get such unanimous support from the government and the Prime Minister himself.

Mired in plagiarism rows

'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ faces not one, but two plagiarism cases. Earlier, a short filmmaker had accused that the Akshay Kumar film has copied some scenes and ideas from his short film ‘Manini’. As if that was not enough, a Rajasthani filmmaker has now alleged a violation of Copyright for the song ‘Hans Mat Pagli’. Apparently, the song sequence was taken from the filmmaker’s movie titled as ‘Laadli’. The team of ‘Toilet... ‘ have of course rubbished these claims and plan to file a defamation case in return.

Fourth collaboration between Akshay and Neeraj Pandey

Looks like Akshay has found the perfect professional companion in Neeraj Pandey. ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ marks the fourth collaboration between the two. While Neeraj directed ’Special 26’ and ‘Baby’, he turned producer for ‘Rustom’ and now for ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. From the looks of it, the two seem to have formed a great team and plan to collaborate again on many future projects.
