Tamasha: Interesting facts about Ranbir and Deepika-starrer

We all are aware of how sweet Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's on-screen chemistry is! Whenever they come together for a film they deliver their best performance. And their last film together was Imtiaz Ali's 'Tamasha'. The film received a mix response initially but has managed to find its own fans over the years.

Yesterday, the film celebrated two years of its release. Even director Imtiaz Ali couldn't help sharing​ flashback picture​​ of Deepika and Ranbir on his Instagram. The duo is seen posing while Ali is capturing them in a mirror. He captioned the image, "flashback- 2 yrs ago - “wonder how our new movie is going to do...”

On the work front, Deepika is all set for her upcoming release 'Padmavati' while Ranbir is working on his next, a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt.

Tamasha's trailer had crossed 7 million views in just 7 days. The trailer had received a positive response from the audience as well as the film industry. In fact, the trailer had garnered 2.7 million views in just 24 hours of its release, which is a big deal in itself. The film had already generated a lot of buzz prior to the release of the trailer, through its images, videos and teaser posters, which made audiences desperate to see more content. Tamasha is directed by Imtiaz Ali, and has Ranbir and Deepika in lead roles, The music has been scored by AR Rahman. Tamasha is being produced under Sajid Nadiadwala's banner.

In their heyday, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand were peers as well as rivals. Now Ranbir, scion of the Kapoor clan, is paying homage to Dev saab in his own sweet manner. For his next film Tamasha, he has gone ahead and done an almost perfect impersonation of the late actor. “This was for the song Matargashti - a fun number which is basically a Ranbir song all the way, with Deepika accompanying him. It has Ranbir stepping into Dev saab's shoes for a good part. His body language, facial expressions and mannerisms are truly in line with that of the legendary romantic hero and his jovial persona have also been kept intact.

The song, Agar tum saath...,' is a breakup number which plays a pivotal role in the movie. The song was exceptionally challenging for the film's lead pair, Ranbir-Deepika, as it required a high level of emotional intensity. The filming, which lasted for 3 days, left the duo mentally exhausted and low. Alka Yagnik provides the much-needed depth to the screenplay with her soulful voice. AR Rahman's vision combined with Imtiaz Ali's direction has taken the song to another level, making it an instant favourite among the audiences.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have a passionate lovemaking scene in Tamasha, which includes a lip-lock. A source close to the production has been quoted in a Mumbai Mirror report as saying that, “The film revolves around two young people who meet as strangers in Corsica and hit it off immediately. They are on a break from mundane everyday realities and playfully decide that their lives on the French island will be nothing but a pack of lies, and go around impersonating the characters they have been fascinated with, from Dev Anand to Don and Mona Darling. But somewhere along the way, they fall in love. The play-acting stops and feelings become real. The kiss between them is not very long in terms of screen time, but it's hot and intense and very different from the intimate kiss they shared in Bachna Ae Haseeno.”

Imtiaz Ali is back with yet another love story in the form of Tamasha, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The ace filmmaker made interesting revelations about the name of his films at Tamasha's trailer launch. Imtiaz revealed that his film, Love Aaj Kal was earlier called Elastic. He even went on to divulge that Train was the working title for Jab We Met. And for Tamasha, the team was considering the title Window Seat. So, for most of his films, Imtiaz was considering English titles but eventually zeroed in on the Hindi ones.

Bollywood's golden couple, Ranbir-Deepika feasted on French delicacies while filming in Corsica for their film Tamasha. The menu for the meals would also be a matter of discussion on the sets. Ranbir and Deepika, along with the crew, would sketch out their wishlist for the day and a huge table, filled with meals, would be set every day. While soups, pasta, gnocchi and polenta were tried in variations by the Tamasha team, sandwich corse and the wonderful dessert fiadone was a staple favourite.
