Six reasons we are waiting to watch Haider

Vishal Bhardwaj’s most awaited dark drama ‘Haider’ is out and is already making waves for Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s sparkling chemistry and Tabu’s eye-catching presence. Presenting Shahid Kapoor in an almost bald avatar, Haider runs high on expectations owing to its Kashmir connect and Shakespeare’s story – Hamlet, on which the film is based. Haider may not just be an intriguing film on love and revenge but may offer much more of the Kashmir valley. Know the six reasons that make the movie special and worth waiting for.

Shahid Kapoor may have featured in consecutives comedies but the actor has proved his sincere acting skills in films like Mausam and Kaminey. The trailer looks promising with Shahid going bald for the first time, raging flames of revenge and anger. Going by the mood of the film, Shahid Kapoor is back in an entirely different avatar from his usual fun-loving self. The film seems to have a lot to offer minus Shahid’s comic timing, one liners and Prabu Deva-inspired dance moves.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj has derived the best of Tabu in their previous flick together ‘Maqbool’. Tabu was last seen in the Oscar winning film ‘Life of Pi’ and ‘Jai Ho’ and is now back with a bang as Shahid Kapoor’s mom in Haider. Not only this, the fans of Tabu have another surprise in the offing as Tabu has also sung a song ‘Roshe Valle’ composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The actress is already making waves for her impressive act in the film’s trailer which shows her in a mysterious role with shades of grey.

Shraddha Kapoor is now a hot favourite in Bollywood post the success of her films - Ek Villain and Aashiqui 2. The diva plays the role of a reporter Arshia in the film, whose first look showed the scintillating chemistry between the lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Going by her previous roles of Aarohi of Aashiqui 2 and Aisha in Ek Villain, we hope the letter ‘A’ proves third-time lucky for the actress. Moreover, it would be interesting to see Shraddha Kapoor’s various moods in the film.

Kashmir has always fascinated Bollywood filmmakers with its snow-covered mountains and its shikaras. After the scenic beauty of Jammu and Kashmir was witnessed by moviegoers in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Fanaa, Haider has been shot at several locations including Sonamarg, Anantnag, Pahalgam and Dal Lake. Vishal Bhardwaj nailed the idea as it also engulfed the political intrigue and history of Kashmir. The film is expected to be a treat to watch from the cinematography’s point of view and may send a cold wave in the movie theatres.

Vishal Bhardwaj loves complicated stories which dig deeper into the various shades of grey characters. Vishal seems confident of the film’s success and chose to co-produce the movie. Not only this, he has also co-written the script and composed the music for Haider. The film is special in more ways than one as he unites his tried and tested actors Tabu (Maqbool), Shahid Kapoor (Kaminey) and Irrfan Khan (Maqbool) for this one.

Shakespeare may have penned his literature in the 16th century but his works are still the best choice for filmmakers across the world. While Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela was based on his play Romeo and Juliet, Vishal Bhardwaj has taken up much more from the legendary writer. Haider is the third in the Shakespeare series by Vishal Bhardwaj, after making Omkara based on Othello and Maqbool on Macbeth.
